Location- Picnic Bay

BENEFITS FOR FAMILIES
The island offers many wholesome family activities without spending lots of money:
1. Fishing from Picnic Bay Jetty. Picnic Bay jetty is the retired ferry terminal for the island. Abounding with coral and deep enough for pelagic fish to visit, the Picnic Bay jetty is a wonderful place to take the kids fishing.
2. Playground, Stinger Net and Family Restaurants. Picnic Bay has it all, the infrastructure that came with once being the ferry terminal! A mall and children’s playground are within a safe beach side mall environment. Adjacent to the Jetty is the Picnic Bay surf life saving club and during summer, a safe swimming area is provided with a stinger net.
3. Walking Tracks and Nature are very prolific in Picnic Bay. Picnic Bay has an amazing abundance of bird life from Ospreys and Hawks to the friendly and very approachable Lorikeets and the shy and statuesque Curlews. Koalas are in their element on Maggie Island and there are over 28km of well kept walking tracks throughout the 80% of the island which remains national park.

Local Attractions

Sailing, sea kayak tours, snorkeling over coral reefs, fishing charters, jetski hire, skydiving, learn to scuba dive, dive Yongala Wreck, golfing, wildlife park, horse riding along the beach, hire a boat and watch the sunset from beautiful Horseshoe Bay, dine at the many restaurants, hire a moke, topless car, scooter or bike, vist the hilarious comedy cabaret dinner shows at The Stage Door or just lay back and relax at one of the many beaches that Maggie has to offer.

Guest Reviews
Had a fantastic time. The cottage is gorgeous. Had frequent visits fron the resident possum.
Saw Koalas in the wild on the way up to 'Forts"rock, Wallabys and lots of beautiful birds.
Best place to stay on the island is here.

Lovely spacious cottage with welcoming atmosphere. Surrounded by tranquil garden makes you feel you are in an oasis.

Very comfortable sleeping arrangements, well equiped cottage with every thing we needed.

Maybe an extension cord for workaholocs to plug in their laptop would be the only addition!
We stayed 3 days but could have done with 10 to really chill out & enjoy.

Highly recommended.

We had a wonderful relaxing stay in your beautiful cottage. I love the gardens and the veranda, a great place to sit and read. Everything was there for our stay. Last night we saw a possum with a baby on it's back while having a BBQ.
Thanks for everything.

A beautifully situated cottage with glorious gardens and wonderful local wildlife. We were visited by possums, many types of birds and lovely frogs. Our family from New Zealand loved the tropical, relaxed environment and close proximity to the beach. We will be back !!

We had a wonderful time in the Ascot lodge and would recommend it to all. From the time we arrived till when we left it was like some one had turned a switch and we were completely relaxed and comfortable.

The wonderful cottage with its early history and amazing tropical gardens made for an ideal location to just catch your breath and read a book or plan day outing to different locations on Magnetic island. The high light was the sun sets on West point.

Time went too quickly but we will be back soon.
